Another day, another widget! As we continue to make changes to the Library Cloud blog, different things will be added to, and possibly removed from, the sidebar. When changes are made, an accompanying post will explain what is new. Today's entry is a LibraryThing widget, or two. I am currently oddly enamored with widgets. Big ones, little ones, free ones, and silly ones, they are great add-on items for blogs. Here are a few widget selections under consideration:
- LibraryThing: 2 Widgets
If you have not yet used this resource, take a few minutes and look around the site. It is a fun, and slightly addictive, way to catalog your books online. An account for Library Cloud has been created and the first few titles entered this afternoon. Two widgets have been added to the blog; one is a random selection of book covers and the other a way to search our collection. - ZoomClouds
Zoom Clouds, or tag clouds, are a great way to present current topics on a blog. ZoomCloud defines a tag as "a keyword that relates to an object or item. In this case, it relates to an article that uses - somewhat frequently - that particular term (the "tag")." - WorldCat Beta
OCLC recently unveiled a beta verson for general use. Instead of having to access WorldCat through a library, users are able to search the free beta version. Naturally a couple of librarians will want this widget!
